Thanks to the JSPS BRIDGE programme I was able to visit my long-time collaborator Prof. Tatsuhiro Michikami at Kindai University’s Hiroshima campus. Together, we conducted experiments at the Hypervelocity Impact facility at JAXA’s Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) in Sagamihara, which is run by Prof. Sunao Hasegawa. While at ISAS, I was also able to meet Dr. Hiroki Kato to discuss the sampling device on board MMX, JAXA’s next sample return mission to Mars’ moon Phobos. The visit was very fruitful in that Prof Michikami and I were able to finalise one peer-reviewed paper, plan our next joint publication (which has by now been published), and discuss future ideas for joint research.

I conducted a one-month collaborative research project with Dr. Axel Hagermann at Kindai University, where I work. The results of the peer review for the paper I submitted had just come out, so we had extensive discussions and finished the paper.
