The JSPS fellowships provide funding for individual researchers to conduct research visits to and from Japan in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural and applied sciences.
 
TYPES OF FELLOWSHIPS
 
Postdoctoral Fellowships - standard and short-term:
a programme aimed at young postdoctoral researchers to enable them to spend a significant period of research in Japan. Application through nominating authority or through host researcher in Japan.
Duration of stay:
Standard: 12 to 24 months
Short-term: 30 days to 12 months

Invitation Fellowships for Research in Japan - short-term and long-term:
A program aimed at enabling Japanese scientists to invite their foreign colleagues to Japan for the purpose of conducting research and other academic activities. Application through nominating authority or through host researcher in Japan.
Duration of stay:
Short-term: 14 to 60 days
Long- term: 2 to 10 months
