Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme for Foreign Researchers

 

1. Aims

This programme is aimed at providing the awardees with an opportunity to conduct cooperative research with leading research groups in Japanese universities and research institutions, thereby permitting them to advance their own research, while stimulating Japanese academic circles, particularly young researchers through close collaboration in scientific activities.
 

2. Way of Applying

There are two ways of applying for JSPS Postdoctoral fellowship: (a)  through the Japanese host institute ,or (b) through a nominating authority in your home country. For information on nominating authorities, see further down on the webpage.

(a) Application through Open Recruitment in Japan (Applicationby Japanese host researcher)

Postdoctoral Fellowships (standard): A 1 to 2 year programme aimed at young postdoctoral researchers to enable them to spend a significant period of research in Japan.

Postdoctoral Fellowships (short term): This fellowship program was launched this year to provide special short-term quotas for North American and European researchers to experience firsthand the research and living environment in Japan. (Fellowships are awarded for a period of 1 month to 12 months.)

Please note that Swedish researchers have to submit application to JSPS Stockholm Office, and Swedish nomining authorities, KVA, SSF and Vinnova will evaluate applications.
